The Lilac Box: Debut

“For Beauty Lovers: Blind Date In A Box”. Every month, we deliver specially hand-picked premium beauty products. And we send them to you in a box, wrapped with a bit of love.

I've spent the last year ogling at beauty boxes available at the US and UK.
Now I'm finally able to try them out for myself!
* squeals in excitement*

I've been a frequent subscriber to Wonderbox, but this one caught my eye.

They sold out in 3 days! 3 DAYS! Can you imagine that?

I feel lucky to have bought one.

First, an overall view of the contents!

*Squeals*

The debut box features stuff from famous brands such as Kerastase, Decleor, Roberto Cavalli and Max Factor! At first glance I was surprised by how big the product sizes were.

I've nicknamed this month's box: The light and airy box.

You'll see why as you read along.

The packaging features a sturdy cardboard box with a cutesy purple polka dot ribbon.

I've kept the box as storage as it is so well made!

Inside there is purple confetti and wrapping paper.

Lilac overdose maybe?

Roberto Cavalli Perfumed Body Lotion 30ml

I'm not usually a perfume type of girl, but the scent reminded me of sophisticated parties and luxurious getaways for some reason. I find myself using it frequently. Makes me feel posh! The texture is light and isn't oily. It makes me feel like a million dollars after I've applied it on my hands and the scent lingers for a very long time!

The full sized product is actually 150ml and to me a 30ml sample is actually very decent and will last me quite a while.

Kerastase Resistance Bain Force Architecte & Ciment Anti-Usure
These two are the favorites of mine! A shampoo and treatment. Both products are for weakened to very damaged hair therefore I was expecting really heavy and oily textures.

I was wrong.

The formulas are surprisingly light and airy and thoroughly nourish my hair. My hair felt so much smoother after shampooing and treatment. It also has a really nice smell and gave my hair a luscious sheen.

The downside? A 250ml costs around RM65. Olala.

Decleor Eseential Cleansing Milk & Essential Toning Lotion 10ml

OK i confess.

I've haven't actually had the chance to try out these two yet but Decleor is a reputable brand and I trust these are great products.

They do smell nice though.

I love things that smell nice. Have you noticed that? *wink*
Max Factor Nailfinity in Midnight Plum

OMG I love this one!

I'm very bad at nail polish but this one glides on easily and effortlessly.

Made me feel like a real pro!

The texture is also very light and gives a lovely finish.

The downside is that I want to sapu all the colors of the range, but I can't seem to find em at Max Factor counters in Parkson and Jusco.

   Sad dao.

Burberry Beauty Fresh Glow - 4 Sachets

I didn't know that Burberry had a beauty range. Ulu sangat.

Now that I know, I'm a fan!

The special thing about this product is that it can be a moisturizer, makeup base and highlighter all rolled into one.

It only has one shade but the formula melts right into the skin and matches your base tone. It is also very dewy and has a very light texture suitable for most skin types.

I mixed this one with my regular Skin79 BB Cream and the results were so good! It gave me a luminous complexion and it made my makeup stay fresh for a better part of the day.

Loved this one!! Must get! Best of all can get at ISETAN woot!

Vouchers. One of the irks I have with Malaysian beauty boxes.

Y U ONLY IN KL?

I live in Penang so usually I don't bother with reading these.

And some nice notes from The Lilac Box team

Unusable vouchers aside, I was reaaaally satisfied with the debut box.

All the products were really decent sized and as promised, from premium brands.

Usually I hate sachet products in beauty boxes but I forgave them this time around as they gave 4 sachets of the Burberry Fresh Glow which can last for 3 weeks if applied daily. And the product in particular is so awesome.

One thing though, there is no description or "how-to"s in the box therefore I had to search the web for more info.

For the first time since I've started purchasing beauty boxes, I've found myself thinking:

" God I need to get me some full sizes."

Well played The Lilac Box team, well played.

Looking forward to the next box!

Instabook?

Introducing Instabook, a marriage between Instagram and Facebook.

Just kidding.

But Instagram does have a new web interface.

According to their official blog:

"Your web profile features a selection of your recently shared photographs just above your profile photo and bio, giving others a snapshot of the photos you share on Instagram. In addition, you can follow users, comment & like photos and edit your profile easily and directly from the web. It’s a beautiful new way to share your Instagram photos!"

Hovering your mouse over an image tile brings out the date, number of likes and comments.

While clicking on a tile brings out the web interface we've been so used to for the past year, allowing users to like and comment.

Getting to your web profile is abit obscure,  but you just need to type in instagram.com/your-instagram-user-name. (For me it would be Instagram.com/yuishira, follow me maybe?)

Blatant self advertising aside, the site looks pretty cool, but as Instagram is mobile focused, one cannot simply update pictures via the web, so I'll probably still stick with my S3 for viewing.

Having said that, an option of viewing via web is still pretty nifty. I'm looking forward to see what comes out of the Facebook + Instagram collab in the future.

iHeartBadges... like seriously

Being lame.

That is sufficient to describe me 80% of the time (the other 20% is made up of Sleeping) thus its really quite explainable why I like 9gag, trolling the unfortunate and "Suddenly, a washing machine." kind of things.

Which is also why I simply had to get these when I visited HueynWah's street fair last Sunday.

Even if they costed RM10 for 3.

And If you share the same kind of lame humour I like, you can get these at iHeartBadges. On the plus side, there are tons of designs plus the lady owner is like very awesomely eccentric. (While I was mulling over my favourites the lady owner told another lady that she could make the crystal necklace she was wearing "talk", now I don't get that shit but how cool is that?)

They also offer bulk orders with customized designs if you are interested in that kind of thing.

Now, let the lame begin!
